Hello everyone! Rob Raskin of Las Vegas here again, and for today’s post I’m going to address those of you who may be new to prepping. Not everyone has been prepared for years, as I and so many others have. There has been increased interest in the topic of survivalism lately, due in part to what’s going on in Venezuela and the fear that it could happen here if (ahem) certain parties were able to win in the midterms. People who never thought the collapse of society could happen to them are seeing now that it can and does—and we could be next!

Of course, homesteading and advanced prepper tactics take many years to master, but anyone can get a short-term survival food supply together. Those of us who have families owe it to them to have a month of food and water at a bare minimum.

Are you ready to put an emergency food survival kit together for your family? Let’s get started! Here are some of the foods that are best for a TEOTWAWKI situation because they have a long shelf-life and are easy to store and prepare:

  • Rice and beans – make sure you have at least 20 pounds of each!
  • Canned meat – at least 20 cans
  • Canned fruit and vegetables – at least 20 cans of each
  • Peanut butter – go for the Costco-size, and get two
  • Oats – at least five pounds
  • Pasta – at least 10 pounds and canned sauce
  • Pancake batter – two Costco-size boxes

You may want to adjust some of these amounts based upon your family’s personal tastes, but the basic goal is to have enough protein, fruits, vegetables, and carbs to keep you all going. Remember, anything can happen in today’s unstable world, so BE PREPARED!
